I am fascinated by all the “perpetual care” plaques I find. It is sort of a treasure hunt for me. These were put on graves that had been paid for by the family or friends of the dead, and the cemetery therefor was to take care of the plot forever.
Often, though, I find them, especially in old neglected cemeteries, half buried in the dirt, out of the ground, bent , or broken.
Nothing is perpetual.
